DripAssist by Shift Labs is an infusion rate monitor that offers a significant improvement in portability, efficiency, durability and ease of use over traditional infusion monitors. The last time Medgadget reported on Shift Labs, the company had just received their CE mark for DripAssist. The device is also FDA approved. Now, Shift Labs is announcing a partnership with Option Care Enterprises, one of the nation’s largest and most trusted providers of home and alternative treatment site infusion services. With over 1,800 pharmacists, nurses, and dieticians, Option Care services patients requiring monoclonal antibody therapy, enzyme replacement, and hydration, among other medications, biologics, and fluids that can be administered via IV treatment, for complex and chronic conditions across the United States. Option Care previously completed a 16-city pilot with Shift Labs and, following the success of the pilot program, is now growing the use of DripAssist by its clinicians nationwide.
As healthcare continues to move beyond the four walls of the clinic, technology solutions like DripAssist, which support the growing market for in-home and alternate treatment center care, are in high demand. Commenting on the applicability of DripAssist in non-clinic locations, Shift Labs CEO Dr. Beth Kolko shared, “Patients and providers in the home have different needs than we see with hospital care, and too few companies are rising up to meet the challenge of simplifying home care and making it more comfortable. DripAssist gives nurses confidence and control over infusions while freeing patients from the burden of having costly and fragile hospital equipment in their living rooms.”
As Dr. Kolko noted, enhancing the in-home experience of care also benefits the provider who can more easily focus on and engage with the patients. “Technology-enabled nurses can even more closely monitor patients, which may lead to improved outcomes and patient experience,” adds Joan Couden, VP of Nursing at Option Care.
